GROVE LANE DAY CENTRE
Luncheon club for the older person
Our Day Centre is for elderly people with restricted mobility, offering a warm welcome and friendship to people who would otherwise be alone for much of the time. Members enjoy the company of old and new friends in a comfortable lounge, and take part in activities, including occasional trips out. We share a cooked meal, which is prepared on the premises by our volunteers. Door-to-door transport is provided by car. Our volunteers use their own cars. Our catchment area is Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle, Gatley, Heald Green, Bramhall, Woodford. Our members often come to us via Social Services or the recommendation of their doctor or home-help, but we also take people by direct application. Prospective new members normally come for a trial visit, before making up their minds whether to join. The Centre is staffed by numerous volunteers, drawn not only from our own and other local churches, but also from the wider local community. It was set up with the encouragement of Social Services, but receives no support from any agency. We depend on our amazing volunteers (of whom we could always use more!) and on donations. We are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We can be contacted on those days on 0161 439 3515 |
